Thanks to the Lifetime Learning Credit, employees required to attend a class for work may be eligible for a tax break on their class-related expenses.
Lifetime Learning Credits are available to any taxpayer who attends at least one class at an institution that is eligible to participate in federal student aid during the tax year. The credit covers tuition and fees as well as any class related expenses up to $2,000, but it's nonrefundable if the total creditable amount exceeds your tax bill.
If your employee is a daycare teacher, and you require them to take a nutrition class at their local community college, then they're eligible for a Lifetime Learning Credit, which can reimburse them for class supplies and enrollment expenses.
Check with a tax professional to see if you're eligible for the Lifetime Learning Credit or other educational credits.
