Top 3 Ways to Make the Most of HR Tech

The annual HR Tech Conference kicks off this week! Haven’t had enough time to plan your schedule? We get it. As a busy HR/IT professional, you’ve got a lot on your plate. HR Tech is one of the fastest-growing HR gatherings in the world (they’re expecting more than 8,000 people), and lucky for you, we’ll keep you up-to-date on the latest insights. To get you started, here are our tips on how to make the most of your time at HR Tech!

HR Tech Tip

#1 – Attend sessions that help you and your boss back in the boardroom.

According to Deloitte’s 2015 Global Human Capital Trends Survey, today’s HR team is fast-paced and intricately tied to a company’s business operations. That’s because technology helps business leaders make data-driven decisions. Of the 3,300 HR and business leaders that Deloitte surveyed:

  • Only 30% thought their HR had a reputation for sound business decisions.
  • Only 28% thought their HR was highly efficient.

Based on these statistics, HR technology can play a critical role in helping you drive efficiency, make decisions, and propel your business forward.

#2 – Get demos, demos, and more demos.

Did we mention demos? Product demonstrations will be plentiful at HR Tech. Instead of passing them by, make them your focus. After all, it’s likely the main reason you’re at this conference is to make your company’s HR more efficient. And guess what? These tools can help you and your organization. So go ahead: demo everything that catches your eye. Ask presenters questions:

  • Why should I use your product over a competitor?
  • How much does it cost to use your product?
  • How much time does it take to get set-up with your product?

After each booth, make a list of your top takeaways and collect the vendor’s contact information to follow-up.

#3 – Attend at least one party, and make at least one new friend.

This one might seem like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many people attend conferences and forget to socialize.

Make it your mission to behave (at least a little) like you’re in Vegas. Attend a party, and commit to meeting and getting the contact info for one person at the event. Feeling adventurous? Keep it going. Practice the art of conversation and you never know who you might end up meeting. They may know where to find the best hors d’oeuvres or which product is best for you.
