As we take a look back at 2016, our team here at Zenefits is proud of the work we did to build a stronger product, provide quality service for our customers, and create a foundation for a more promising 2017. Take a look at some of the exciting things we did last year:

We Launched Z2 and a Ton of New Feature Updates

Say hello to Z2. This was a true labor of love.

We launched a new and improved HR platform, Z2, the first total app experience for small business HR. We completely redesigned Zenefits as a connected ecosystem of apps, giving small businesses the most comprehensive all-in-one HR solution and enabling best-of-breed providers to join the Zenefits platform. Our initial partners are listed below, and we’re adding more each day.

The Zenefits dashboard also has a new look and feel, giving you a clean and beautiful environment to manage your HR.

A Modern Benefits Experience

We also redesigned parts of the Benefits selection, empowering admins with more control and ease of use. When shopping for a new plan, for example, you can now browse and filter plans based on criteria that makes the most sense for your business. We’ve made it easier than ever for you to find a plan that is suitable for your company and employees. 

More Control in Time and Attendance

With Z2, we rebuilt the Time & Attendance app, making it easier for employees to log in and for managers to approve hours. We also added project codes and customized meal breaks so that you have even more control over the way you run your business.

A New Service and Knowledge Base – HR Advisor

Customers have embraced our newest offering, HR Advisor, a solution for all companies that combines attorney-sourced content, tools for HR productivity, and a team of experts to help you understand best practices and policies, stay on top of the laws, and plan for the future.

Payroll Launches

We are thrilled to have launched Payroll in California, Texas, Florida, and Washington. Zenefits Payroll gives companies the ease of seamlessly connecting their payroll with all other apps you mange like HR, benefits, compliance, time and more – so that everything is automatically updated.

Breakthrough Mobile Apps

In 2016, we also took mobile to another level by creating an on-the-go Zenefits experience.  All-in-one HR is now just a tap away.

  • Life & Disability: view policy and coverage details*
  • Employee Directory: find and contact coworkers through text, email or phone call

  • Inbox: take care of important HR tasks on the go*
  • Payroll: Zenefits Payroll users can view their paystubs
  • Flex Benefits: View balance details for your HSA, FSA and Commuter accounts

Clean Bill of Health from Regulators

In 2016, Zenefits put past regulatory issues behind us. Regulators across the country have praised the New Zenefits for resetting our values, culture, mission, leadership, and governance.

We Released Our Licensing App

We are proud to be recognized as a leader in compliance. We created and implemented a licensing controls app to manage our own licensing issues, but decided to make it available for free as an app on Salesforce’s App Exchange to help benefit the industry. Our Licensing+  app helps other businesses (with employees requiring certifications) get and stay compliant.

We Won a Few Awards (and We’re Pretty Proud of Them):

We Produced Some Great Content

With our commitment to help, serve, and educate customers, we leveraged our internal teams of experienced experts and compliance gurus to create useful content for our customers, including The Must-Have Guide to FLSA and Overtime and the State-by-State Guide to Commuter Benefits.

Our trusted benefits advisor, Bud Bowlin, continued to give valuable advice via his Ask Bud Column. This is one of our favorites from 2016: The Top 20 Health Benefits Questions Asked (and Answered)

We also introduced a new column in December 2016, Money Matters with Matt, featuring our payroll and accounting expert, Matthew Keller. With this column, Matt dives into all things numbers – from taxes and fringe benefits to deductions and data validations. Check out his first blog post.

New Values

Company culture is what guides employees’ decisions when no one is looking. That’s why one of the most important changes we made in 2016 was declaring three new company values:

  1. Operate with integrity
  2. Put the customer first
  3. Make this a great place to work

These values support our company mission and are the reasons we come into work everyday.
