Zenefits’ nonpartisan approach to small business advocacy

You may have heard reports – some correct, some not – about various Zenefits employees helping the incoming Trump administration transition into office. Since politics is a sensitive subject these days, we wanted to be absolutely clear: Zenefits has no politics. The company is not Republican or Democratic. Zenefits is guided by one thing: our mission to make entrepreneurship easier.

To this end, we work with elected officials from across the political spectrum at the federal, state, and local level to make sure that nothing gets in the way of small businesses using technology to run and grow their organizations. We’re happy to share our views about small business with people and groups from both parties – and no party.

Zenefits also counts organizations involved in politics as customers. We serve political organizations on the left and right, including multiple 2016 presidential campaigns, the Democratic Governors Association and the Republican Governors Association, and many non-governmental organizations.

Zenefits’ employees support political candidates consistent with their beliefs. We have had employees run for local office, volunteered on campaigns, and some that now serve on the presidential transition. We are also proud to congratulate our colleague Luis Quinonez, who has been asked to serve as Chief of Staff for Assemblymember Autumn Burke, a Democrat and California’s Assistant Speaker Pro Tempore.

Ultimately, our political priority is nonpartisan – to be the trusted voice of small business to government leaders.  We look forward to working with everyone we can on behalf of policies and ideas that help our 20,000 small business customers grow and create jobs.

As federal policy and regulations begin to take shape, we will update you regularly so you know what’s coming and what to be prepared for. Yesterday, we held the first of these updates – a town hall webinar on Forthcoming Changes with President-Elect Trump and What it Means for Your Small Business. You can read about the discussion. Look out for future webinars and information about regulatory changes from the new administration in Washington so you can be prepared. We look forward to helping you!
