PWC’s recent Workforce of the Future survey found that 25% of the workforce (and a whopping 88% of working Millennials) want to work for a company whose values reflect their own. And those values are skewing toward purpose and global good versus (only) profit and personal advancement.
Indeed, in my role at Zenefits, I have the good fortune to speak with our customers —founders and leaders of America’s “other 99.7” of businesses, the small and mid-sized organizations with less than 500 employees. By and large, these organizations are passionate about so much more than their own bottom lines. A great majority of them are deeply invested in supporting not only their teams but also the communities where they live and do business. Their passion and purpose are hugely inspiring to me and to my colleagues at Zenefits.
Yet, even in a digital economy, it can be tricky to find the right “fit” with organizations and nonprofits to donate our time, money and good intention: even in our own backyards. So, I was really excited to recently spend some time with Sri Vitthanala, the CEO at Bright Funds, which provides an innovative “giving platform” that helps companies and individuals match their interests with a pre-vetted set of non-profits for donations, matching funds and volunteering. Alternately, companies can select their own 501(c)(3) and with Bright Funds, each person can track the impact of their giving.
