Ankur: Our four-day work weeks jet a trend.
Didi: Welcome to POPS. The show that shows you how to shift from a human resources, paperwork to people, operations for the new world of work. How. By answering one question at a time
today to help us answer your question. Here’s Ankur Patel, the Head of Product Marketing at Zenefits.
Ankur: You’re starting to see a ton of uptick in social chatter. About four day work weeks company. These are even running campaigns to promote these as a new tactic to higher top talent and who wouldn’t want that.
But really are these just a here and now thing? Or will they sustain over time? Well, flexible work arrangements are one of the most sought after things for both gen Z and millennials, upwards of 60% of those populations identify that as one of their top three needs for any job. So that’s very telling since those populations are now starting to make up the majority of the workforce.
You’re also starting to see some larger movements and formalities around the topic. Belgium just recently passed workplace reforms, which allow employees to work longer, more condensed weeks in order to have a three day weekend. Naturally. We’re also starting to see a shift from quantity to quality, especially through the last several years as we faced a global pandemic.
Remote work became a growing reality for many organizations to adopt whether they thought they were ready or not. So the signs in general sentiment is pointing to that. This isn’t just a trend it’ll likely be yet another change that helps evolve and push the workforce expectations forward over time.
The, and a great thing to ask yourself today is do you have the processes in place to help you meet the needs of a four day work week? Some questions to ask yourself, are you able to schedule accordingly? Do you have the appropriate number of employees? How does this affect total compensation? Put some pen to paper.
And see what you come up with.
