Pet Perks Are a Priority

More folks are souring on open office plans. But the pets at work policy is showing no sign of stopping.

A new poll found that a majority of workers said having pets around would relieve stress and that pets would help them get to know their colleagues better.

The Number: 54%. Fifty-four percent of workers report feeling distracted at work thinking about their pet at home.

The Quote: “Over a quarter of respondents said they’d change jobs if it their new gigs allowed them to spend more time with furry friends.”

More Employers Consider Student Loan Repayment Perks

As student debt piles up, more employers are taking a look at the benefit. An estimated 23% of companies are considering this type of fringe benefit for their workers.

The Number: $.5 trillion. US workers hold approximately $1.5 trillion in student debt.

The Quote: “Another thing to consider is that student debt is a major source of stress for Americans young and old, and helping to alleviate it might help your workers to better concentrate on their jobs.”

Dads Re-think the Career Path

According to a new survey, the vast majority of dads said having a child changed how they view their careers. The majority also said they had access to 7 weeks of paternity leave, but needed 10 weeks.

The Number: 88%. Eighty-eight percent of working dads said having a child changed how they viewed their careers.

The Quote: “Working moms tend to earn less than other women, but men with kids earn more than other men.”
