The I-9 verification process
The I-9 verification process requires all new hires to provide documentation of their eligibility to work in the US. By law, eligibility documents that accompany I-9 forms must be inspected in person within the first 3 days of an employee’s first day of work. Employers must complete Form I-9 from the US Department of Homeland Security to document verification of the identity and employment authorization of each new employee (both citizen and non-citizen) hired to work in the United States.
