What to do when you reach 50 employees?

We’re about to hit the 50-employee mark at our company and are continuing to grow. I’m afraid of missing something. What should I be thinking about?

The two biggest things that come to mind are the Family Medical Leave Act and the Affordable Care Act, as company size thresholds can impact your requirements. However, depending on the company’s locations and business structure, there may be more.

For example, California has certain laws that come into play at 50 employees, and some federal contractors have to participate in EEOC filings at this milestone as well.

It’s good to get in front of these with an advisor or employment lawyer.
