Standing desks are a hot trend, and their possible health benefits have been widely discussed lately. However, they can be expensive. Whether or not to give employees a standing desk will be a budget decision; if a company is planning on providing standing desks for all employees, this could be a major financial investment for the company. An employer may also receive a request to provide a standing desk as a form of accommodation for a disability or medical condition. In that situation, the employer should follow the requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) to determine whether or not to provide a standing desk as a form of accommodation.
