Making a decision about whether or not employees can work from home is a very fact-specific question, and ultimately, there is no one right answer. A few positive things about letting employees work from home include increasing employees’ sense of freedom, promoting flexible working hours, and helping to support a work-life balance, especially for employees with families at home. A few negative factors include the potential for decreased visibility into the work that employees are doing and a lack of accountability, not to mention the fact that it is much harder to foster a company’s culture when employees are not actually in the office. This is definitely a decision that has unique factors for every company.
